I Need Some Betta Advice / Help

Hello, my name is Stephen Marki and a couple of day's ago I got a Betta fish...

I am sort of new to the fish world because I am used to having mammals as pets (dogs, cats, skunks, racoons, etc). Anyway, that is besides the point. I have been noticing that my fish has been doing some weird things, and I am not sure if this is normal. I do not have a big tank, It is a standard small fish tank with an air pump, a light, and a couple of plants.

Anyway, the couple of things that I noticed are is that he has been nibbling on one of the plants (the plant is real) and he has also been bumping into the snail that we have in the tank... We do not have a filtration system. but that is why we got the snail and the air pump...

So are these behaviors normal for a betta fish or not... He is a Clowntail-Fringe Tail Clam... I am not sure what the snail is...

Its not uncommon for a betta to nibble at plants, one of my females does it, i think she is eating things off it not the plant itself.

As for bumping the snail sounds to me like he is having ago / attacking it, not all bettas can live with tankmates. Is the snail the only thing he bumps?

I would love to see some pics of him as i have never heard of a Clowntail-Fringe Tail before and would love to see what its like

He sounds normal. He might start nibbling the snail, as long as he cant eat it the fish should be ok. He might not like the filter, most bettas dont like moving water, if he tries to make a bubble nest you will know he is happy. Any photos?

I do not have any pictures of him yet... I will get some later and post them... Also another thing that I have noticed is that he will not eat when I put food in his tank...

He will swim up to it, stare at it for like 5 seconds then he swims away, could it be because he is not hungry or what? After the food has sat in the tank for a while it swells and then he tries to eat it but then he spits it out...

So yea, I will get some pictures of him ASAP

UPDATED: I have unplugged the air pump and he seems to be making a bubble nest underneath the airpump tube... And the snail is an Golden Mystery...

And there was a little bit of a typo on my first message. He is a Male Fringe Tail (Crowntail) not "Clowntail"... I got the updated version from the jar that he game in...

He seems to be happy now, but he still is not eating... And he has stopped attacking the snail since I unplugged the air pump...

lol why do I have a feeling you bought the betta from Petsmart?? I work there and I've told the company like 100 times that it's a CROWNTAIL not CLOWNTAIL

Umm... Becuase I did get it at Petsmart

what type of food are you feeding him?

I am feeding him "Wardley Essentials Betta Food"

Try fasting him for a couple of days, it wont hurt him, i do it regular. After a couple of days try again he should it and will if he is hungry
