Well there is this person that is very highly recomened on MFK and Simply he imports wild fish. Some of them being discus. So he has wild Rio Nanay green discus. I had to try these fish out. I wanted all wilds but wimped out. My true parrot is wild caught and from the same water heckle discus are from and he is doing great in my water.

Anyways I ordered one wild green discus to go with my others. I just had to do it. The green discus are not as hard to keep as the heckels and I have read they mix well with domestics. He will be here Wed.

I put all my fish in qt fist. The importer does his part to get the fish adjusted and eattig treats for parasites and all that before the fish go up for sale thus guys is one of the best importers.

Well I got my fish on time. He was sent in a tiny box with very little room between the walls and bag so any rough handleing could do major damage. The bag leaked bad. The fish only had just enough water to keep him wet but could not move at all. He was stuck on his side. He has marks on his side I'm not sure what from I think from rubbing on the surface ofthe bag.

He was alive but hardly. Because there was so little water I could not properly adjust him to my water. I did the best I could. I emailed the guy I bought his from. He told me he should be fine they drug them for shipping. I don't know he's is poor shape. Also did not have an heat packs and it gets cold here at night. This guy is a sponser on a few sites I was expectig better shipping then this.

He is in a qt tank to recover. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he makes it. All my other fish I have had shipped were more active then this poor guy. I just need to let him be a d not look at him because when I do I freak out.

not sure where to start really , 1stly of course i hope he pulls through , i have often been surprised at what fish can withstand , so dont give up hope just yet. did the bag leak because it wasnt tied/sealed properly or was it pierced by the hard rays of the dorsal fin? it should of been double bagged really. no heatpacks either? i have to say thats pretty poor form , especially for somebody supposedly reputable. did the fish come with any gurantees in terms of arrival condition? and his blase attitude torwards your email is pretty poor too , particularly as im assuming you paid quite a fair price for the fish , as wilds tend to be more expensive than tank bred fish .

are you a member on the forum you got it from? if so perhaps you should post a thread stating exactly what has happend , both with the packing and the crappy response you got from the seller. nothing that could be deemed slanderous or a breech of rules etc , but they shouldnt be allowed to get away with such poor service.

Oh dear, I hope he makes it. Its things like this that really put me off posting fish. I know thats how they get to the shops, but I still dont like it

I have had 15 differant fish shipped to me over the few years. Never has this happen I had one other bag leak a little but not this bad. The fish was shipped cross country. He used 2 thick bags but it seems like the seam of the bag leaked like they were cheap bags. Im not kidding when I say the fish just had enough water to keep him wet.

I should have taken a photo of how much water was in the bag. The box is soaked. when the Fedex guy handed me the box he said he thought the fish would be dead .

Yeah I emailed the guy again we will see what he says this time. He says " LIVE ARRIVAL IS GUARENTEED ON ALL SHIPMENTS!!" On aquabid. But the fish was kind of alive when I got it so I don't know what will happen.

Your little fish should have been double bagged in strong bags with oxygen and plenty of water He should have had a heat pack as well.

Poor thing, really upsets me when people post fish out like this, it just isn't fair.

I really hope he pulls through

The guy did use 2 bags. I looked at the bag for the leak and there is a small slit on the side it when throw both bags. The fish Ray must have made the hole. But yeah no heat pack was weird. The box was so small for a 3.5" fish. I got some sad photos I will post soon. This fish is a trooper that will be his name if he makes it.

If the bag did not leak it would have been all ok I think.


Mark is right fish can live threw some crazy stuff. He seems to be trying to sit up right. He is just weak and in shock I think. Also he was drugged for the ride.

ok so yesterday this fish looked like this.

he was Flat on his side see.

Today he is on more of an angle now. see.

What is that mark on his side? I don't know?

Here is the tiny wet box. I took this photo a few hours after I got it so it is a dryed a little.

So he is trying to make it but I just don't know. The guy said if I loose him he will give me credit. I would rather get my money back but whatever.I hope he makes it .Yes if he does live he will be extra special to me.
