i heard my sparklers croak!

Not sure why but I just wanted to share the new with you all that I finally heard my sparkling gouramis croak the other day....I was terrified till I worked out what it was as it was so unexpected and sounded like the filter had jammed or something. bless!

and while we're on the subject....does anyone know what encourages them to croak? cos theyve never done it before and they've not done it since...

The sounds are heard because of displays/courtship/territoriality/competition (mostly connected with breeding and in the presence of females) and come from the males.

Wow very cool!! I've been thinking about getting some of these guys. Do they like to be kept in pairs or groups??

It's best to keep them as trios (1 male, 2 females) or as a group with more females than males. They like planted tanks and reach just over 2".
