I looove my trumpet snails, and believe you me, I have plenty of them to love
They're great at cleaning up uneaten food and keeping the sand turned.

I purposefully bought trumpet snails for my tanks! If you notice that you are over-run with them, it is a good sign that you are overfeeding your tank....the babies are soo cute and tiny, though!

common pond snails are of the devil and do nothing but eat plants lay eggs on everything and multiply. unlike trumpet snails they are useless.

trumpet snails in my opinion are indestructable. they can live through alot of different water conditions and temps and i dont know of any fish that will eat them.

they multiply quickly but are harmless as they wont eat plants and don more good than bad plus the only time you see them is when the lights are off.

At one time I had tons of common pond snails and they never once ate any part of any of my plants. They cleaned up the algae on some of them but I never found a hole. Now I have lots of trumpet snails so I guess it's true that they eat snail eggs because my common snail population is nothing compared to the trumpet snails. Neither type cleans up algae even a fraction of how well my nerites do. They're algae eating workhorses.

btw trumpet snails are out and about day and night in both of the tanks I have them in.

One of my small bichirs eats ramshorns. Of course she can't keep up with the reproduction rate so when I see a big a big clump I throw them in the tank with the loaches.

I have one mts I was hoping for more but appearently they're not hemaphrodites..

No, malaysian trumpet snails are single sexed snails so you will need males and females to get a colony going. They are also livebearers.

yea, i've got a zillion of these in my brackish tank. they are very handy in turning over the sand I have as the substrate, and great cleaner uppers. I was not aware they would destroy my apple snail colony until it was too late... I used the apple snails to feed my f8's.
