I Hate Ich

He still isnt right, but he is moving around, quite dark in colour too, but the fact he ate, once saturday and again yesterday is hopeful.

The little front is still worrying me, he is all pale again this morning, but at least he is swimming around better and his injuries are healing. Good news veija is eating, looks like he is trying.

So glad things are looking up :)

a very effective ich treatment availiable in this country i have found is king british ws3 full strength whitespot terminator. i used this last time i had to deal with ich and it knocked it out quickly , a word of caution tho its a very strong med so dosage should be hlved for sensitive fish such as sharks and loaches etc.

I use protozin, its the only one I know I can use at full strength that doesnt effect my ghost knife, he's so sensitive to meds, even melafix drives him nuts, but protozin doesnt seem to bother him. It says to dose on days 1, 2, 3 then 6, 7 and 8. Well I dont do that, I continue to dose for a full 7 days, as at day 4 (today) the spots have just come off and that is when it can attack the parasite, so if I missed days 4 & 5, then it would come back.

ah. if your ghostie is thatsensitive to meds i wouldnt risk the ws3 its pretty hardcore stuff it was too much for my rtbs to handle and it killed it . maybe worth a try for the veja tho as its in a seperate tank?

Well the Viej only had a few spots come up and today, they appear to be gone, Ive only been half dosing in the QT tank, its only 21 litres, and keeping the temperature around 27c, as the heat was causing a big problem for him (and the obviously the Texas) and will continue to dose in his tank for another 4 days, then keep him in the QT for a few more weeks to make sure its completely gone and also to try to feed him up a bit, 9 days without eating didnt help his immune system I think.

@minxfishy and star4, so sorry to hear what you've been going through. *fingers crossed*

fingers crossed it sounds like your'e winning the fight , hows harry doing?

Well he's not bouncing of the tank walls anymore  He seems more mesmerized by the all the bubbles coming from the spray bars

He is now spot free, so I think thats eased his anger more and aside from deciding that my fingers are for the taking, he seems more like his old self :sly:

good to hear . i remember when you got him around the same time i got vinny... its almost like they have grown up together kinda like distant brothers :fun: . heres hoping the rest pull through too

Sorry to hear of your losses Minx, Hope the others pull through ok
Have you tried feeding garlic enriched food to boost their immune systems? May speeden up their recovery.
