I am going to rescape my tank (juwel vision 180).

Thus is the current look....

I got the gravel with the tank, I think its a coral gravel, I wasn't sure about it but went with it, and now I've changed my mind...

I've got 25kg of black gravel (2-3mm grain size) which I shall begin to wash when I get round to it.

Ive always wanted a mangrove root looking ornament but never seen one I've really liked and then stumbled upon this on amazon...

It's massive, nearly 45cm long and a bit too big, I'm going to cut it down carefully to a good size and retain the hole so it fits better.

I thought it was going to be fake. Oops. And looks nothing like the photo! Oh well. Still a lovely bit of wood.

It's very dry and flaky so no sap left in it. And I have no idea what kind of wood it is either....

I've read about soaking it etc which I will do but if I scrub it as well I'm worried about ruining it and knocking bits off.... can I not scrub it and just soak it and all will be ok?

id just give it a good soaking, crazy piece of wood i love it!!

It was £13.95 and about the same again for postage so under £30 delivered :hyper:

But it came from Germany and took 10 days to get here

I really like it actually, going to turn it into a centrepiece rather than to one side of the tank, going to have to have a careful think and try different placements as this rescape is going to take ages, I want to get it right first time

Here is a link to the page I used, they tend to use a lot of artistic license with the pictures though, I've learned it won't look exactly like the picture!

sweet cheers, lol ive rescaped 4 times in a week ill never get it right!

Well, I cut up the wood this evening, I could see it had been chainsawed anyway as it was a rough cut so I carefully looked at it from all angles to find the best cut point, decided and got to work.

I still don't know what type of wood it is but I can certainly tell you its a hard wood

And it took ages to cut, near on 15 minutes, with my good hand saw, my arm nearly fell off

I took this picture to show how I've cut it, laid them on the floor to take the shot and how I've laid them in the floor looks like a pretty good layout for the tank :D ;)

Just need to re arrange my plants to make it work best B-)

Funny how you can sometimes just stumble upon a winner, it doesn't happen a lot mind you... Lol.
