sorry i didn't realize that this thread was here sooner. the title didn't really indicate that it was a puffer problem, so none of us knew to look at it.

for future reference, puffers don't need medications to heal from mild bite wounds. light biting is just part of being a puffer around other puffers; they're evolved to handle it to some degree. if your fish is absolutely savaged with chunks hanging off, then by all means use antibiotics! but the best thing you can do for superficial bite wounds is isolate the puffer and make certain it has lots of clean water. adding medications like melafix will mostly just stress the puffer and reduce the oxygen content of the water.
