I don't want my swords to breed

you could always let them breed... and not try to save the babies... let the babies get eaten... thats always an option.. not the nicest one but if u have no choice ?

ive kept swords in a 10 gallon tank o.k... if your going to do it prove hidin spots and make sure to do water changes often ...

I could, but I just feel so mean doing nothing to save them I don't know- I'm not going to buy any more fish for a couple of months (until my platy fry grow up), so I guess I have plenty of time to think about it.

All right Would platies have enough room in the 10 gallon? I already have two in my 5 gallon, so I'd like to transfer those to the 10 gallon and hopefully buy a couple more. I know they have the same sized body, but they don't have the long sized tails that swords do.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news like that, I know it's hard to find that you don't have room for the fish you want. Happens to me all the time...

Platies would be fine; even when only counting their bodies they're a bit smaller than swordtails.

Ok. Well, platies are pretty similar to swordtails. I just love the colour of marigold swordtails (I don't think platies come in a marigold colour ) and I love the male swords' tails.

I found a pic of a sunset marigold platy. Dunno if it looks the same as the marigold swordtails you like, but it sure is pretty too.

Oh, that is pretty! I like the orange-yellow combo. The marigold swords are all yellow. Now if only I can find some at a store near me. . .
