I Don't Know What Was Wrong With Her

I had a fancy guppy that had just given birth when she started acting strang she started swimming with her tail pointing down and her back curved and she started lying on the bottom of my tank alot. She started to get worse as time went by and I started to fell realy bad for her so a sacrifised her to the great gar in the catfish tank. I just was wondering what was wrong with her and if it was preventable.
