I came up with a conclusion

YOU are obviously over-stressed, wwestar lol :p ...calm down, take a deep breath before you respond...think about what you're saying and how you sound once in a while...

Are you talking to me, Abstract? I sound mean and overstressed?

Sorry....I'll try to make my post sound nicer. :)

kids these days... you have absolutely no respect wwestar, and obviously can't even listen to someone with a different view than you without getting defensive...you need to back off everyone else - they are sharing their experiences just as you have tried to do - so why aren't they allowed to, when you can share your conjectures with the rest of us (look up conjecture and you will know what i'm trying to say) :kana:
Excuse u were did u get the impression im a kid?????! Get your facts straight. And For anaststia My females are huge like 3 times the size of mile males. The female will actaully chase away the malees when shes getting stressed. I have seen nips in the males fins nothing seriose though. If i get another female i would have to get rid of a fish. Thats something i do not want to do. I love my fish and have heart strings for them. I cant just get rid of one. With the same heartstrings i would not allow the females to get overly stressed. I have feelings.

it was a joke, that's what i mean - you need to relax and not get so defensive about everything...you know how old people always say "kids these days" ...i'm 20, it was a joke....

but if you're anything around my age or older, you don't sound like it from your posts...so maybe you should think about growing up a lil (not in age, but in manners and how you handle confrontations) because it makes you sound absolutely clueless in all honesty...

what size tank is it by the way?

How can you tell if your female is not stressed? What signs do you look for?

I can tell you, the female can't chase away the male every time she is getting "Stressed", because chasing him away is part of the stress! Size isn't a big issue. It's the sex drive.

I understand you are attached to your fish. Can't you get another tank, and split them up? 2 males and 6 females, and 1 male and 3 females? Or seperate the males and females.

And the nips in the male's tails are from aggression over the females.

And you all, let's play nice. Name-calling and sarcasm never help much. I understand you guys are a little frustrated...but let's be nice.

Wwestar, if you are older than me, (which a lot of people on this forum are, I am only 14) you certainly cannot spell as well as me, and my spelling is pretty horrible. And I am sure everyone on this forum will agree that my manners, and a lot of other people's manners, are above yours. I have no idea what age you are, but considering how you come on this forum expecting everyone to agree with the things you do which are going against their extensive studies, then maybe a FISH ADVICE FORUM is not the place for you to be. I don't know everything. I am new to fish this year. I come here to share what I have learned and get advice from those who know more than me, so I can avoid mistakes. I have yet to understand why you are here.

The male got nipped at when he was the only one in the tank. The other two males are very young. (Wwestar, if you are older than me, (which a lot of people on this forum are, I am only 14) you certainly cannot spell as well as me, and my spelling is pretty horrible.) That is extremly rude of u to say. Most of the time im writing these posts are when people are getting me extremely frustrated. I am an and always was an honor student. If it will help i might be able to add1 more female. It wont help cause the female is the same age as one of my new females that most of the time is ignored.

How could he get nipped at if he was the only one in the tank....?? And just because the other males are young, doesn't mean there isn't aggression. And thisquote seems to imply more then one male is being nipped?

" I have seen nips in the males fins nothing seriose though".

Perhaps I read it wrong?

And also, I'm still just wondering what signs you are looking for to show your female is not stressed. I'm not saying it's wrong, just wondering what you are basing it on.

Don't get frustrated. We are trying to do the best for your fish. You do not have to take our advice. We are just speaking from experience, and from what we have learned keeping fish.

And if a young female won't help, add a few older ones!

I appologise, wwestar. That was rude of me. I am not doubting your academics. I am just saying you are getting kind of sloppy in your typing on the forum. It makes it extremely hard to read what you are trying to say.

Oh ten gallon
that's what i was concerned about...so you have 5 guppies and 3 mollies in there??

3 male guppies x 1.5" = 5"
2 female "full grown" x 2-3" = 4-6"
3 mollies x 4-5" = 12" - 15"

you are so incredibly overstocked with those mollies in there...even if they are fairly small they still produce a lot of waste, a lot of fry, and will grow way too big for that size tank...

why not return the mollies and get a couple female guppies ...at least then you're only a little over stocked
