hello i came across this site while looking for information about oscars as i have to.
i have an oscar that has a lot of sores around its mouth and the bottem of the neck. just under the mouth and i cant figure out why or how.
i had this mediem size decortation in there that kept getting knocked over by both of the oscars so i was think she ran into it and grazed. or her and the male had a fight.

i been tryin to look for information to see if she would die or it would just heal. if any one as the answer feel free to write back.

or if any one has a way to prevent her from dieing. as she is my oscar and the male is my boyfriend feel free.

the names are bill and mary... (dont ask)

thanks
sara

If it's just cuts/grazes, it should pull through. Just do lots of water changes to keep the water quality good you could also try a med like melafix. If it's some sort of disease or hole in the head, it's going to need some attention. Try to get a pic uploaded.

What size tank is it, what tankmates and what is your current water change schedule?

i dont no what type of tank its it as i got it for free. but was used for fresh tropical fish. *mums boyfriends old tank*
i do 3/4 every two weeks coz they are a dirty fish and i do a full once every month. well my cousin does not me.

its only a graze but i am unable to put pics up as i dont no how. but if u have an email adress i can send them via email

I was meaning dimensions.. Use a tape measure to find out how long, wide and tall it is.. With this we can find the volume.

You don't need to do such large water changes and never (unless something goes very wrong) need to do a 100% change. I do 30-40% a week for my oscar, but a lot depends on what size tank it is. To help it heal faster, I'd recommend doing more frequent smaller water changes (If the cuts are bad, do 15-20% every day or two to keep it really clean).
