Today I received a text at 8:30 pm that a packaged was delivered from a company i never used for shipping. My first thought was spam or fraud. Still i checked the door and found a box. Hum... it had a few stickers on it - i had not ordered anythign recently as i have everything i need or want at least for today. So i did open it expecting antrax or some biohazard or similar. But it was none of those things and i survived (so far) the opening. It turned out to be an item i had ordered back on Nov 21 and marked as delivered Nov 28 and refunded Nov 29 (because it obviously was never delivered). I then reordered the item from another vendor which has easy enough returns on Dec 1st and received Dec 9. I was going to use it friday but put off the work till monday dec 15 so it was still unopen. Since this 2nd vendor has easy returns I've scheduled a return for tomorrow Dec 14 and sadly being the moron i am notified the original sender that i actually received it and they can take back the refund if they want. It remains to be seen if they actually reverse the refund and maybe i will say something or maybe i won't on this thread if they do. It was kind of expensive so i won't be sad if they let me keep the refund but i will accept it as the way things are if they take back the fund. Hope all of this is clear.

I have a lovely living room armchair here - a friend ordered one for himself, and the company sent two by mistake. He contacted them, and they said it would cost more to ship it back, and it was his to keep. We were moving into our house then, so voila, we profited from the mistake.
It's crazy.

reminds me of a rosanne episode where they send her a new refrigerator every few days and when she thinks they figured out the mistake and is going to want them back (she was selling them) they send her two new ones and appologize for a mix up. Whatever.

As to back fold comment the problem is the gap between manufacturing price, whole sale price and buy price is quite large in part to cover these constant mistakes. After all a rug that might cost $20 to make in pakastain might cost you $1000 at macey.

Here’s another one along the lines of Gary’s story . My wife ordered two fans from Amazon that had remote controls that set the speed , oscillation and on / off . Only one remote came so she called them up to get another remote control device . The customer service representative said they’d take care of it and that they had her order in front of them for reference . Not long later two more complete fans arrive so now we had four fans but still only three remote controls . Go figure .

Amazon has its issues but I would rather deal with Amazon then visit the dead beats at Home Depot or Loews. Given me AI any day than a live human retail clerk.

Like defunct ciricult city the quality of Home Depot and Lowes depends heavily on individual stores (unless you talk about the mail order departmnets) and both our local home depot and lowes have been pretty darn good.

So in response to my offer to pay for the item this is the seller response:
--
Hello. Based on your feedback, due to the delay in delivery by the logistics company, we have refunded the money to you in accordance with the regulations. We will no longer reclaim the product. You can continue to use it. We will not charge you any additional fees.
--
Gee sometime it is just not possible to pay for an item no matter how many times you try.

I'm sure most people know this, but according to US law, unsolicited packages are a gift you are free to keep or discard as you see fit; you aren't required to pay for them. You are free to return them if you wish, but you are under no obligation to. This does not apply to late packages for which you have already received a refund; in that case you are required to make a reasonable effort to contact the seller and either pay them again, or return the item.

Yea but per full thread it was actually something that i had ordered and was marked delivered weeks earlier. Btw the company refused to let me pay for the item (which they had refunded) despite asking 3 times.

I would have asked only twice. 😇

Yea but the item was expensive ($100) and so i kind of wanted to do the seller 'right'. THey probably collected insurance money from the shipper.

I’m just teasing. You did the right thing.
