So I have been looking at a lot of ya'lls photos of your fishes and they all look like quality photos! What is the trick?! I am wanting a good picture of Loretta my Betta, but everytime I take one, it doesn't turn out well at all. I even tried taking the flash off! Help please! :fun:

Its luck mostly, just take as many photos as you can and the chances are one or two will come out ok.

The best start you can make for instant improvements is use the flower symbol setting, don't point the camera right angles to the glass to avoid reflections and back up a bit to get better area coverage. Once you have 50 to 100 shots, go through them and throw away all but 2 or 3 and the ones you have left can be cropped to show just the fish you wanted to show. I'm not at all kidding, you throw away 50 for each one you are willing to post. This would have cost a fortune with film but it works out fine with the digitals.

use the macro button (flower)
,

these two posts have it right if you ask me. use the suggestions from both!

if you use the macro setting (flower symbol) try not to move back from the tank, it kinda defeats the object of a macro setting . even in macro mode the zoom is no good leave it set to minimum zoom. appart from this, just bang away till your card is full. let us know how you got on.

Also, if using flash, get a piece of paper and put it over the flash to act as a diffusers, this way the light is spread & you dont get a white blob in the middle!
