How To Plant Plants ?

ive been and got 2 vallis variants, one annubia , and some hairgrass , what is the best way to [plant] them ?

i was going to removed the led band and foam around the vallis and bung it straight into the sand/gravel ?

and remove the pots on the other 2 and do the same, can anyone please advise me if this is the correct way to plant plants ?

im just not sure ?

i would plant them in the gravel although I've never done it before i dont see why it wouldnt work that way

I would leave everything on them for now, the lead will help weigh down the plant untill they get established, you can use the gravel to cover the lead and pots in the meantime or stone's etc.

I remove pots but leave on the foam and lead weights. The ones with the foam and lead weights, just grab the foam bit and bury it under the gravel. Don't be too vigorous with your gravel-vaccing near the roots for the first few weeks until they bed in properly. Plants will bed in properly to gravel without too much trouble. If you leave pots on the ones that are potted, they'll grow until they're pot-bound but that's it. The plants I had in my first planted tank totally melted when I left the pots on, but as soon as I took the pots away and bedded them straight into the gravel, they flourished.

I remove absolutely everything from every plant. The foam is just a substitute for substrate, it's not needed once planted.

The vals go straight into the substrate, no lead needed, just make sure it's suitably planted.

Dwarf hair grass, need seperating into plantlets ideally, but small bunches spaced an inch or so apart is ok.

The Anubias must have it's roots exposed so has to be tied to rock or wood or something.

Trim the roots of the vallis (not too short though), remove the lead and any other stuff (foam or whatever). Then make a hole in the substrate and place the plant in there and cover it. Make sure the crown of the plant is still exposed and that the majority of the roots point downwards.

Anubias, attach to a rock or wood or other ornament with either string or a rubber band. Remove all lead/foam etc. If you're not attaching it to a tank ornament, then plant on the substrate and make sure the rhizome is still exposed.

Hairgrass same as vallis basically. But add to that what curiosity101 said. And no real need to trim the roots usually.

Then place root tabs next to the vallis and hairgrass

brilliant stuff thank you guys , i already had some jbl loaded clay balls root nutrients , ive used those

i wont need to keep adding those though will i ?

also, in a few weeks time im going to start rasing the salinity , that will be the real test...
