How To Lower Ph Without Chemicals

... and one other thing: no one has the same definition for bog and driftwoods either. :p It'd be nice to have a clear definition of each one but like common fish names, it's going to keep being confusing. "Now what kind of Butterfly Pleco was it that you wanted?"

I've bought a couple nice pieces of "wood" from Big Al's Online. You don't see a picture of it before you order but I have been satisfied with both pieces I bought. They are clean and white (I assume they are driftwood) and didn not turn my water more than maybe just a touch. I did soak them for a couple days before adding them to the tank though.

I'm guessing that bogwood is just a British term for the same thing (bogwood:driftwood == autumn: fall).

then you guess wrong :p

Bogwood is just that; wood that has come from bogs. I.E. the place where peat is dug up
Drift wood is just that; wood that has drifted ashore, be it a rivers shore or the sea shore.

Sadly, I was right. Obviously, your terminology is correct, but the stores in the US do not seem to know the word "bogwood" (I went or called to a few following your gH recommendations). Four pieces that I have in my three tanks all look like "bogwood" from your FAQ (and lower Ph, and release tannins) but were sold as "driftwood".

I did a good post on wood, so good the mods decided to pin it

Your FAQ's are always most useful, thank you for the effort! Is there a list of Wolf's FAQ's somewhere?

A minor suggestion if you are going to revise your FAQ: perhaps mention that stores in the US (and probably Canada given that there were no Google bogwood hits in Canada either) tend to use incorrect terminology.
