hi friends im a newbie to this forum and a newbie of keeping fish as a pet.i bought plays and guppies so can u help me to identify dare gender? if can explain me through pictures.thanx
 
Welcome to the forum Angebaba. Gender in the common livebearers is a breeze.
The anal fin, the one right next to where they eliminate waste, is a different shape in the two fish. A female has a triangular, some people say fan shaped, anal fin. A male has a long thin anal fin that is used for breeding. Poeciliids are the type of fish we are talking about and includes swordtails, mollies, platies and guppies. This is a picture of a female of a poeciliid fish that you may not see often in a fish shop, but is one I have a decent picture of.

Here is a male platy
If you at the anal fin on the under side of him your see it's pointed. This is called a gonopodium and is what the male uses to fertilise any females

Females fin's are triangular in shape and Rounded
