Ive just upgraded my tank and all of the fish are in it. In my old tank i used to turn off my air pump and then they knew food would come. Now, i can just drop my food in, but the fish dont know its there. How do i get them to feed? Im not sure if they are getting food and im a little worried.

Thanks

Will

dont worry they will soon understand. if foods going in then they will find it.

Have you tried dabbing your finger on the top of the water? fish tend to come up to have a look at what it is, ive done this a few times and had fish sucking on my finger as i gently dab the water.
Hope i helped

For the time being, give them less with each feeding so you don't pollute the tank with the uneaten food, but be persistent and they should pick up on new "dinnertime" cues fairly quickly. I was just reading last night that you can train fish to associate just about anything with food, including sounds. Opening the top of the tank generally works for me.

Also, dabbing your finger in the water does seem to catch their attention and make them come up to the surface.

well im giving my shark and cory cats algae wafers, and all the fish seem to be picking off these. Will it do them any harm just eating these? I will be persistant but im glad that they are actually eating something at the moment. Will it be ok to feed at 8 in the morning and about 6 at night? The fish i ahve are cardinal tetras, rummy nose tetras, harlequin rasboras, cory cats, a shark, a platy and an otto, ill soon get 2 rams aswell.

Is this a good diet:
Tropical flake (king british), hikari tropical pellets for small fish, tetra prima, algae wafers (king british).

Thanks i will try the dipping in my fingr method in a few minutes
