I have 2 tanks both bought very cheap :)

One is a 30" x 12" x 14"
One is a 48" x 15" x 18" 10mm Glass

They both have silicone around the rims were the guy stuck decorations and they need some cleaning TLC. Whats the best way to clean them well and remove any stray silicone?

Also i have another question about the larger of the tanks. It weighs.... alot. Very very heavy, and hols about 212L. The tank i want to move to put this there holds around 126L. With all the extra weight am i going to need a specially made stand? Il be honest with you and say im pretty poor atm and cant really afford one. The 126L is on a standard little stoor bought unit, with 2 drawers a cupboard and a small cabinet thing.

Thanks in advance guys/gals :)

P.S First Guppy fry today!!! Woooohooooo :P:P

don't know much about the other questions you asked, but as part of my old job I used to have remove stray silicone from glass coffee table tops. We used blade scrapers to do it. I guess you'd find them in a hardware store. You can remove the silicone without scratching glass if you get the angle right.

about the tank stand question,,,,,

TBH I wouldnt risk it, your new tank is double the size of it, which will be highly risky

A truly cheap stand is possible by using building blocks like you would use to build a concrete block wall as the "legs". Then you top it of with a sheet of plywood. The support all comes from the concrete blocks. the plywood top gives it the look of a table while providing some cushion effect between the glass and the block. Paint the whole thing any color you like and it will function as a stand. In the states this would cost maybe $15 to put together, that's about 7 or 8 pounds. Not sure what the prices would be there.
