How often to clean canister filter hoses?

I’ve seen hoses that would scare you. They get a slimy scum buildup that’s positively stomach turning especially if they are in a dark cabinet or are not clear. Get some brushes made for them and something you can pull through for the longer ones. Aloe Vera water conditioners will really leave a slime coat.
