Alright how often do you change the cartiridges in your filters?

i change the top wool pad in my filter weekly, rinse the top 2 pads fortnightly and the rest of the pads around 6weekly, replace less often. it's a juwel box filter btw

change fluval 1 wool when it looks dirty basically, every 2 weeks

and the air pump box filter in angel tank weekly or if it looks dirty

I only change the fine filter floss pads when they are clogged and dirty, as well as carbon pads when they have been used. I have never changed the sponges, just rinsed them out in old tank water. These should last for years, despite what the filter manufacturers say in their instructions. They are just trying to get more money off you!!!!!!

when they need it - it depends entierly on the filter....

our Rena XP3 lasts for months before it needs looking at (its been running for 8 months on a lightly stocked tank and 4 on a heavily stocked and it needs cleaning now... so thats a year!)

others are every few weeks.

I don't change my filter floss until I notice a decrease in water flow even after a cleaning in used tank water. Maybe averages about 3 times a year.

The sponge in my AC's I change every 3-4 years.
