I have plenty empty tanks atm and want to propagate plants in them..... Just how essential is aeration in these tanks and if required..... how strong??....

Enough to avoid Stagnant air is what my research has come up with. I'm assuming your going for emmersed growth to propogate plants, yes?

My understanding was that the same extra surface disturbance (say a spraybar high enough to churn the surface up rather than just below the surface to just create smooth ripples) that encourages a little bit of extra oxygen for the fish will gas off a bit of the CO2, thus lowering the effectiveness of the environment for plants, typically.

My assumption is that you are not going to use pressurized CO2 or a liquid carbon product?
