This is going to sound like a dumb question but how much water do you put in a 10gallon tank Obviously not all the way to the top edge. Or does it matter at all.
Usually less than the 10gal.

If your on the lines of... A tank sold as 10gal is the internal size of the tank. Once gravel n stuff is added, plus you usually don't fill it right up so you end up with the water volume less than the tank size
