I Dont have a test Kit.

Anyway.

i've been looking into buying one. And they all cost around £50!

Api freshwater- £25

Are you in the UK Knox? My API kit was £15 delivered off ebay. I think the £50 ones are the complete test for everything ones but you don't really need one of them.

If you search api master there is one on now for £16.95 free p&p, it's the freshwater one you want.

A Couple weeks back.

I Have only ever had one major Ilness in my tank then i told my mom to buy me a proper test kit for x-mas.

And she must have forgot.I Have no money atm but i will do within a few weeks. Getting my new fish tank later ( hench the reason im skint )

And I Looked on a few websites and they where fairly expensive.

where'd you get yours from?

Edit : Ohh Yep im UK And £15 sounds good. I may get one in two weeks time if im lucky! / and if any are going on ebay for around £20

I got mine a fleebay prices in Dublin fish shops are 50 to 35 euro

i brought a new one on ebay last week buy it now for 16.99 its an 'API FRESHWATER MASTER TEST KIT' definately worth a search.

My first was an API master which was £15 and it was crap, then I bought some saliferts which I still have, I haven't used them for a good few months, because hobby test kits are rubbish, they're not a very accurate indicator of water quality.

I'm not anal about checking my water quality, all I'm bothered about is if my fish, shrimp and plants are doing well, if they're doing well then my water is fine.

And remember, in the UK saliferts are more or less the same price as API but the saliferts are a lot more accurate so buy them when you can.

the API is better value than that Hagen one. They are accurate enough for hobby use as long as you are not colour blind.

I got some false readings just by becoming more and more lazy regarding the instructions,
ya gotta shake the bottles for a minute and the test tube as per instructed otherwise you wont get correct readings.

there are always kits available on ebay for about £18 as stated which is alot cheaper than lfs at £30 API seem to be ok in my experience and i wouls say a test kit is an essential piece of kit for the fish keeper especially when still new to the hobby
