My sons has a angel260 tank (26litre? all in one type tank) with 14 guppies, a bristle-nose catfish and 2 other fish I don't know. One of the females dropped 7 fry 2 weeks ago, all of which survived.
To me this tank looks over crowded..
I am currently trying to set up and start cycling a 125litre tank to eventually put the guppies into, which should be plenty of room. Thinking of doing this as mainly a guppy tank. (Catfish or 2 for bottom feeder planned)

I am doing 3rd daily water changes @10% in the little tank to keep the water fresh.

How many guppies would the main 125l tank support?
What other fish go well with guppies?
(In Australia so would like some options due to some may not be available)
Best plants for guppies?

(read some posts already but still have questions.. continuing to read)

Not sure what these 2 fish are..

They look like harlequin rasboras. But they could be lamb chop rasboras or hengels rasboras which are all very similar, can't really tell as the picture isn't very clear. If you search all 3 on a search engine you'll be able to tell which one. :)

When you say bristlenose catfish, do you mean a bristlenose plec? If so, if it were my tank, I'd move this into the 125 litre once it's cycled, as they produce a large amount of waste. Sounds like you're keeping on top of it with water changes every 3 days though. Are the guppy fry old enough to tell what sex they are? If you have a good number of males and females, you'll soon end up with a LOT of guppies, so you won't need to buy anymore :) you'll probably end up taking some to your LFS or giving them away to friends and family. The two harlequins could do with a few more of their species to form a larger shoal.

Will you be keeping the smaller tank as well? Or just the larger one?

Harlequins. that rings a bell. How many Harls make a shoal? These 2 stick together a lot.

The tank was a kit on a $50 special.. for sons room as a nightlight. Bought 7 fish, dropped them in a day later and only those 2 survived. (went back and went off for not giving relevant info to a newbie.. they said 'why not ask' and pointed us here..)
The guppies are from a friend..
The bristle was sold as a catfish. but could just be Aussie slang for the plec. )
Fry are 14 days old tops, wife says she can see '2 with boy bits' (lol) so 2 male 5 female?

Girls want fish in their room now so will be adding another 30-50 litre tank, and the guppies can fill it up.

What else goes with guppies to break them up a bit ?

The fish in your picture are harlequin rasboras. They are among the easiest of all fish to maintain. At 26 litres, your tank is close to fully stocked, or maybe even a bit overstocked. Do not add ay fish top your present stock levels.

Yah they look crowded. One of the male guppies is at this moment just sitting on the bottom of the tank. That stress from the crowd?
The fact that one of the females looks square enough to pop fries has me worried, as my bigger tank is nowhere near cycled to take them on.

How many harlequin rasboras are a good number?. Thinking of popping them into the new 125L tank as a feature shoal. (Iffypedia says at least 6.. that sound right? )

I like to keep rasboras in groups of at least 6 but you really don't have room to do that.
