I have a 2 ft tank with currently 6 adult guppies & 2 3 month old fry.
I measured it & it's 24" wide x 12 deep x 18 high
I'd thought it was 60 litres, but just done a calculation & it's 84/5 litres
It looks pretty empty, so how many could I comfortably have in there?

I'm going to guess it's a 20 gallon considering it's 6-8" less than my length and 4" less height and mine is a 29 gallon. If it's a 20 gallon maybe 2-4 more guppies if that's what you want. If it's 25 gallons maybe 5 more or you could go for a tetra species. A school of any kind you like would work. Maybe harlequin rasboras.

Add on: As long as it's peaceful.

Ok so that's about 21 gallons then so I'd recommend either a school of tetras or if you only want guppies 3 more.

i think you have a 20 gallon high- i have one too! alot of people will yell at me for this, but 8 guppies is not a lot. if i were you i would put like 15-20 guppies in a 20g. i would also (well i already do) clean the tank twice a month ( let's say on the 10th and 26th). look at how the fish act- are the stressed? provide hiding places to i needed. you can also ask yourself if your tank looks over crowed. the number of fish depends on the cleanings, how they feel, and what kind of fish. i am not a person that follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon 'rule', i go by the fish. testing the water will also help!! :fish:

I do a 20% water change once a week, gravel clean & test water every couple of days.
I'd be prepared to do more if necessary
I do like to watch my fish, so would soon spot a problem.
It's well planted with lots of hidey holes they go in & out of.as you can see, they're good at hiding

Thats a 23 US gallons, or 88 litres aquarium to be precise.
Did you say you have 6 adult guppy and 23 fry already? Or is it 2-3 one month old fry?
I can't read today

It's 2 guppy fry

Thanks, sorry for that.

You still have some room for a few more. If you decide to stock to the limit, then you need good filtration and 50% water changes a week. What type of filter do you have?

I have a Fluval U2 at the moment, though was thinking about the U 3
I don't want to stock to the absolute max, just wondered if I could have a few more

If you go by the rule 1 inch per gallon, then you can have 9 guppy as they grow to 2.5 inch.
You can of course add a few more, but I would upgrade to at least U3 if not even U4. Fluval internal U3 is 600litres an hour and by my standards you need 800litres/hr. U4 is 1000 litres/hr.
If I am not mistaken U2 is only 400 litres/hr and I have similar one in my 30 litres fry tank

You can buy a U3 for 35 euro and U4 for 45euro online, as they are expensive in the shops.

Thanks Snazy, will upgrade my filter to possibly the U4, & look to add a couple more guppies in a while

Why dont you go external filter?
gives you more flow and more room in the tank for another fishy :)

Ideally I'd like an external, but my tank is on a stand, not a cabinet, & I don't want any more wires & pipes showing.
I've put a U 4 on my Christmas list

Thanks Snazy, will upgrade my filter to possibly the U4, & look to add a couple more guppies in a while
Hi everybody
I just became a member
I think guppy fish is not sensitive,So you dont need to upgrade your filter and you can try to add more fish
The other hand, for 60-liter aquarium 200 l/h is enough and 600 l/h three times more than require!if you have extra waterflow your fish become weak!
I keep one adolescent guppy per one litre (only with sponge filter)for many years and didnt have any problom! just try it.
let me show my healthy guppy(I took this picture last year when i didnt college student)

Welcome to the forum movaffaq.

Nice looking guppies you have there. As you say, a fair number more fish could easily be added to that tank but as you and I both know, they will soon be present with no effort at all by Cazgar. The female fry drops in the next month or two will fill that tank completely.

Lovely guppies you have Movaffaq, they never have any like that at my Lfs unfortunately.
Old Man, you're right, one of my females gave birth last night & I can see 4/5 babies swimming about this morning.
I was going to get a couple more after Christmas, but now I'll just wait & see how many babies survive instead.
Managed to get a pic of one, you can just make it out in the moss
