How Many Platties?

A friend of mine is giving away some of his platy fry 20 - 30 for free. My tank has been having some major issues but I think it was because of all of the crap under the rocks, and I mean poop. I have only 3 peppered Corydoras at the moment. I wouldn't mind letting them breed but I do not want it to be a full time chore or have more fry than I can get rid of. My tank is a ten gallon so how many platies should I get?

I would accept no more than 2 pairs of them. Any more and you will need a large tank to grow out the fry and get rid of them, much as your friend is doing.
