i currently have 5 in 1 tank and they get on quie happily... race each other up and down the tank. there was little bullying from the largest discus, but it calmed down after it was sectioned off for a week

i have 7x 4-41/2 inch discus in a 55 gal tank.because of a disease which was due to adding unquarantined fish to another tank...........its a long story..........but before then had about 35 fish of varying sizes and they were very happy

remember it depends on width of dimensions of tank and not just water volume
