I might be picking up some fish from Yeovil and Im from poole... Its about an hour and Im going by bus... How long can they live in the bag without problems for?

Im getting

*8 platties
*4 Female bettas and 1 male
*blue goramis
*and some plants
*and some fry

Keep the male and female betta bags well distanced and the gouramis aswell.

I was going to so that they cannot see so it doesnt cause un needes stress. and so that the bettas dont flare at each other... Would all the females need being bags to 1 per a bag or not ?

I often go to fish shops in Dundee which is an hour drive from Aberdeen and i have had no problems having fish in bags,in the car for upto a 2-3 hour period, just make sure that paper bags are put over the polybags to make it dark.

I have a storage box i carry in my boot which can hold quite a few stocked fish bags, hold them all in place so the bags don't get thrown around while travelling.

The female bettas will be ok being bagged together.

Hi CTlovesKS :)

Don't worry about an hour or so travel time. Fish get shipped all over and stay bagged up much longer than that. When you bag them, only fill the bag with the platties about 1/3 full of water and leave the rest air. This will help the water stay oxygenated. This is not such a problem with the bettas and the gouramis since they can breath air from the surface.

If possible try to carry them in a styrofoam box or cooler so the temperature stays stable. If you're lucky the bus might be air conditioned and that could drop the temperature of the water otherwise. This will keep them in the dark too.

They should be okay; ive had a fish in a bag for 2-3 hours before (well, parents did as they got me it as a superise) but i wouldn't push it that far again!

i say keep em all dark.

As long as they are bagged properly and transported as mentioned you should have no problem. If you ever get a chance to go to an auction those fish are bagged for 12+ hours and do just fine.

So i have to bag the following

4 female bettas - one bag
1 male better - 1 bag
goruami - 1 bag - he is big though
4 fry - 1 bag
and all the plants might be able to go in one bag but this isnt a confusing part for me..
and all the paltties -1 bag

Is this correct ?

Also thanks guys for helping out so much :)
