how long does it take to spawn roughley' i have a pair, had them about 3 weeks they settled in new tank ok just being impatient now i think,

i have done the whole live bearers for ages and my partner wanted somthing new so he chose koi angels,

they are ina aqua one 620T with gravel and a air stone for decoration,

they have been doing that dance thing they do since we got them,
the male seemed to be the one in charge and protective when we got them 3 weeks ago but now the female is the one thats the BOSS

im just impatient i know also excited,(they are a breeding pair well sold to me as one ) fingers crossed for young

also does the female get fat or anyghng prior to laying eggs? is there ne signes to look out for apart from their underneath bits hangin out

well mine always lay eggs about every 11days,ive just had a batch laid right this moment<got to be about 400 eggs,,,,my problem is i get to the free swimming fry stage and they die<i think its starvation,,,got to try babie brine shrimp next time at present i have liquid fry food,,,,female does get a lump in her stomach and a couple of days before hand they have a small white tube appear at the base, males is long and thin where females is short fat n stumpy,,you will notice them cleaning glass/filter/plants/rocks for a suitible place to lay them,,i would also suggest getting a sponge filter as i know my filter has sucked alot of mine up,,,
will post a thread to my pair if you like,,,,
good luck, you may find as ive been told that moving a pair might make them stop breeding,,,this is now my 14th batch http://www.fishforums.net/content/Members-...-Frywith-Video/

ps dont be impaitent, they may take a while, new surrounding etc, try doing a nice large water change to stimulate them

i mentioed them not breeding again when we got them he said he is for ever swaping his fish about? and they breed,

thanks for that have a sponge on stand by

this is what a friend said to me when i siad"oh i could bring them to your shop and you could breed them for me" he said from his vast breeding of angels and other cichlids,,,obviously its not always the case

Aye, often fish are bought as breeding pairs but the change in environment (water parameters, tank layout etc) can knock them and just turn them into an ordinary 'pair of angels'. As well as adjusting to the new tank, they will also be wanting that little bit of the tank that is 'theirs' for territory and eventual spawning and this can take time to develop.

I bred angels for years and when I bought proven pairs it was often a case of waiting months for them to settle and spawn. Not sure about the size of your tank but what regularly worked for me was adding another angel or 2 to the tank - this would often spur the pair to lay claim to parts of the tank and bring back the bonding.

Try daily 10% water changes, with water that is a few degrees cooler. Live food helps, brine shrimp, blackworms, or bloodworms, though I don't feed bloodworms more often than once weekly. I saw the tank pictured in another topic you posted, the slate does have to be vertical, and it would help them feel more secure if you were to dim the lights. Room lighting would be fine for a few days, as would limiting commotion around the tank.

i have now planted the tank for coverage for them and also moved the slate vertical. the femal seems to have took to eating muck (algea) off the glass in a certain spot? if this means anything,
