How Long For Ammonia To Drop And Nitrite To Rise?

im on day 10 of the fish in cycle...still no nitrite...just wondering what day is average as i fell as im behind a bit

Hi, if fresh new media is being used then I'd say another 5-8 days before a drop in ammonia and nitrite should follow accordingly.
However if you are using some cycled media then any day now is my thinking :good:

aye its new media...ive just had a thought...i should have taken the carbon out when i started it up...it will have taken some of the ammonia out of the water for a day or so.

Yes it would be best to not use carbon. It is not required in a fishless cycle. Best use for that is to remove old medications once they have done their work or to help reduce water staining....from bogwood for instance.
