How Long Does Water Take To Clear With Cat Litter?

Sorry, im spamming the forum, but i put the litter in the tank a few days ago, and due to certain reasons i could not fill it up. I did however fill it with water yesterday at around 10pm, i put the filter on today, the water is still cloudy. Any ideas for when it will clear up?

it could be silt from the sand, put a filter full of floss in there.

Generally it will take days for cat litter to settle as the particles stay suspended in the water, are you sure non of the substrate was disturbed? and did the sides of the tank get cleaned?

Thanks for the response. Yes, i hope it is just the sand. When i put the water in the tank i poured it into a bowl. So the water didnt hit the substrate.

Mine wasn't cloudy at all as I'd cleaned the sand beforehand. The litter shouldn't make any difference as it's under the sand so none should have got into the water. If it has, it might be a strip down and redo as the clay particles are so fine, they may never settle out.

after leaving it for a day, it has cleared up loads. shrimp will be here friday!
