How Long Do Tropical Fish Live?

Once your tank is set up with the right conditions, how long can you expect your average tropical fish to live?

well. umm average?? each fish is its own. there is NO average tropical fish.....
each species has there own life expectancy and we really could not tell you unless you are more indepth as to what sort of tropical fish you would like to know about. eg: guppies live to about i think anywhere between 2 - 5 years and have been known to live a little bit longer.
what fish would you like to know about and maybe i could help you more.

I think that link Orange Shark posted is the best summary around. It's not complete or 100% accurate, but close enough to give you an idea.

Short answer is tropical fish can live from a little over 1 year (pseudomugil rainbows for example are short lived) to decades (clown loaches)

WTF my clown loaches are could live decades? I had no idea I'd made that much of a commitment. Oh well. I don't see myself stopping loving my fish any time soon.
