How Long Do Parasites Last Without Fish?

[aibo210]

Hi

Just cleaned and filled my tank up to start cycling it etc. how long will any bugs take to die out without any fish in there and just plants and fresh water? I herd they die if the tanks is dry and no host is present so what about full?

Thanks

depends on what parasite you are trying to starve.
there are people on here who could help but with a little more information.
i watched a program on sky about the amazon river and these little blood sucking parasites can stay in the microscopic harmless juvenile form for months untill they detect ammonia from fish and then they grow and attach themselves to a host.

yes i do watch too much tv
