How long did it take you to get you water clear "crushed coral or something that was dusty" after you filled up your tank? Mine isn't to bad but has a milky look.

Crushed coral in a freshwater tank?

bad idea.
Not nessicarily, depends on what kind of fish you are stocking with. Many freshwater fish enjoy a high pH and would appreciate crushed coral :)

i have to put crushed coral in my filter to keep my ph stable. my kh out of the tap is 0. ph comes out about 7.8 and crashes as soon as it hits the tank. put crushed coral in all my filters and now my ph is stable between 6.8 and 7. i had one tank that had gone below 6 before.

Hi

Depending on what filter you have you can buy polyester inserts for the filter which will help remove any fine particles from you water.

I think this will be the only way you can remove your micro floaters, over the of several water changes you will lessen the amount of particles in there, just be careful when doing you water changes not to stir up the subtrate too much or you will have a vicious circle.
