How heavy on average is an empty 200l tank and cabinet (I am guessing the cabinet will be flat packed?).

I ordered a tank and stand from seapets.co.uk which will be being delivered Friday. However they say their couriers are only to deliver it to the kerb side and won't take it to the house. I was meant to have help but will now be the only one in all day and am worried I will have problems moving it.

I am female, not weedy but also not She-Ra strong (showing my age there :D).

Anyone get any idea how heavy they will be? The cabinet shouldn't be too bad because even if it is heavy, I can always open up the box and take it in bit by bit. It is more the tank I am worried about.

Unless you can roll the tank on something, you are going to need two people to safely move it.

You are looking at around 165 pounds with just the tank alone.

Hi,

I ordered my tank from seapets, a 125 ltr and the driver helped me get it into the hallway so I guess it depends on the driver you get, I'm sure they will be willing to help.

I cant remember exactly as it was a while ago but I think my 125 ltr was about 25-30 kg

Yes the cabinets are flat packed

Have you not got a nice friendly neighbour who could lend a hand?

Andy

We have only just bought the house, took possession last week and as yet we have not met the neighbours as we aren't living at the new house yet. Have only been there twice so far to move bits in. Getting a load of furniture delivered Friday (and my new tank :D) so I will be there all day with lots of new things to play with. :D

I'll just have to flutter my eye lashes at the delivery driver and hope he takes pity on me, :D

edit - Just found out my uncle and aunt will be popping over for a couple hours in the afternoon, so hopefully it will be delivered while they are there and I can get some help.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Sounds like a good day to get up early and make sure those lashes are right  ... also might be a good fun excuse to meet some of those new neighbors!

Always take it slow with heavy stuff like that and agree on signals with the other people so hands don't get crushed or things dropped!

Yes get two people for the tank they aren't that heavy BUT when I decided to move my vision 180 from car to living room I wished I hadn't because looking back if I had tripped things could have been messy lol! Also you can't always control the stresses subjected to the tank so it could theoretically fall apart or collapse if picked up incorrectly!

Cabinets are really light though

the driver will normally help you but they are not insured so if he drops it your paying for a new one!

can i as what tank you got from sea pets?

cheers

a 200 litre tank will weigh about 30-40kg and the cabinet about 30kg. ive carried a rio 180 on my own before, so im sure youll be fine.

thanks all. Hopefully it will be ok. Hopefully I will get a kind delivery driver.

It is the fluval roma 200 tank and stand. Quite excited to be getting it. Although I can't set it up for a few weeks as I will be shuftying between the old house, new house and where I am at uni. Will be so glad when uni is all done and we are fully moved in.

Oh! I completely forgot to take pics. I was going to as well but then with all the other furniture we got delivered I got completely side tracked.

The delivery driver bought it all the way into the house for me so I was worrying for nothing.

Got the cabinet set up but need to find some polystyrene to go between the cabinet and stand.

Also, I am having a dilemma. It came with a fluval U4 internal filter but I am considering buying an external filter instead. I was going to wait and see how I get on with the internal but am not sure. Will getting something like a fluval 205 be a marked improvement over the internal? Or does anyone have any other recommendations for around £100. Also, if I use a different make, will I possibly need to modify the hood at all or do they all have generally standard pipes that will go in the same holes?

Sorry for the silly newbie questions. :D

edit - does this look worth it?

i though fluvals were floating base? which means a plastic frame separates cabinet and glass? if so you dont need polystyrene, just make sure its level

There was a plastic frame which would make a gap between the tank and the stand but my uncle reckons you need to fill this in with polystyrene or similar so there is no trapped air between the two (or something like that, can't remember exactly what he said).

Do you not then?
