Hard to know how to vote, it depends on the situation. When all is well I only use FreshStart, but if fish are ill I will medicate. If I had fish sensitive to ph and knew how to get on with the ph stuff, I suppose I might use that- the situation has not arisen so I don't.

I'm an anti chamical person unless its a must else rather use other non chamical way to deal with problem.

As dechlorinator isn't needed here at all, I only use liquid & solid fertilizers, and peat. Plus plaster and baking soda in my livebearer tank.

If you own your own tropical lake I think the natural method is good

Other than that you need help to keep it good. Just think how unhealthy you would feel if someone kept you locked in a swimming pool swimming around in your own excretement!!

Even a large tank like a 6ft can not provide a natural world for your fish!

I feel fine using chemicals in my tanks. I don't see why people worry about adding chemicals to their tanks such as 'PH up or down' to lower the PH etc, and have never had any problems using these.

I don't see any problem in using them, but even I only use them from time to time. :)

They can cause pH instability and crash a tank quite easily if they push the pH levels too far up or down. The shock of the change can kill your fish, plants and other inhabitants. Better to leave the pH as it is unless you have fish that absolutely need a certain pH then use natural buffers to do it. Calcium carbonate is one good way to raise pH, peat moss can help lower it with using R/O water.

I have two tanks and use "chemicals" in both of them. However, I know exactly what these chemicals are, what I am using them for, how much to dose and what impact they have on my tank.

I don't think most people that use chemicals (other than dechlor) in their tanks can say the same.

I use aquasafe, flora boost, stess coat and various mineral supliments but thats it- i try to avoid using to many meds when i can, i figure its better to have a hospital tank if you can as you don't put the healthy fish through the stress of the meds.
