I am looking at fish stocks in my lfs, and they dont stock the fish i want. However, there are several companies on the internet offering to deliver fish. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Im a bit worried that i cant see their conditions or general health and worried for the poor fish being stuck in a van for possibly several hours. After all, its not like youd buy a dog without seeing it first.

Does anyone have any positive or negative experience?
Thanks
Sarah

I think it depends on the company really. Ive heard some people say how good the delivery was. And some horror stories.

Im going to say, its a mixture of how good the company is and luck...

It all depends on the company. A good idea is to Google the company name, this will give you information from folks who have received fish from them. Including something like shipping, problem, or acclimating in the search will help narrow it down. Any good company will cover losses as long as you have done your part on the receiving end. You should at the very least have pictures representing what they are selling, if not pictures of the actual fish for more expensive species or breeding pairs.

Several hours is not a bad ship at all if the fish is healthy & packaged properly. Auction fish are often bagged for 12 or more hours, this includes drive time when the auction is out of town. I do this all the time, several times yearly.
