Hi all
When I pick up my lionfish, does it come in a poly box, double bagged or any other way and does anyone have any tips for getting it into the tank.

Thanks
VM

Will probably be double bagged..I keep an old salt bucket that I take to lfs with me..handy to transport fish in and for drip acclimatising in on return home..
Only time to be wary of these stunners is when they go head down, tail up...usually a warning before striking...and this happens at an amazingly quick speed when they do!!!!!

If bagged , simply float as usual and pour water in at intervals from a cup,etc..then tip the bag..VERY CAREFULLY,lol......And off he goes

Hi buddy

So it's better to take a salt bucket, i have one of those. Do I just get them to put the fish directly in the bucket with no bag at all? if so, whats the best way to get it from the bucket to the tank?

Shop should happily pop it straight into your bucket for you..remember to rinse and dry it well before leaving home..............
After dripping in you can simply pour it gently in but best to carefully net it and dispose of this transport water....keep the net at arms length and pop it into tank, allowing the lion to release itself and swim off...most dangerous at this stage though as stressed when netted so will be on the defensive....

All this lion talk has really put me back in the notion of my dream predator tank again,lol.....

A volitans, a zebra moray and a polka dot grouper....can always dream I guess,lol.....

You know what's coming, don't you....????

WE WANT PICS ON ARRIVAL !!!!.....

If you do get accidently tagged...put area under the warmest water you can handle and keep there, take anti hystamines and pain killers....It really hurts, I know..I've tried it,lol..

 I hate bagging up lionfish!! Its the bit where you have to turn the net inside out to tip it in that bag where its scary SCARY!!!

I adore my volitans! Lezley has taken me most of a year to convince to eat frozen food and i wish i hadnt now! He has doubled in size (literally!) in 4 weeks since eating frozen foods!!!

Hope he grows big like my freind from on holiday last year. That in the back ground is a steel girder from a ship wreck just to give an idea of size.

At the rate my little dude is growing  i'd say they reach that size pretty quickly!! Mine has grown an inch in 4 weeks :S
