how big do the highlighter blue jack dempseys

ive been thinking about getting one for my 40 gallon aquarium but i can really find any thing that provides enough info about them to be sure that it wont get to big for my

Jack Dempsey cichlids and all their colour forms can grow to 10-12 inches and they all have the same temperament (a bad one).

A blue acara or electric blue acara has similar colour but only grows to 5-6 inches and is much more pleasant natured.
