How About This?

Due to some deaths in my 60l tank (about a month ago) I have a very mismatched stock list - 5 Corys, 3 Black Phantom Tetras, 2 Guppys (female) and an Apple snail. If I were to get rid of the Tetras, move the snail and possibly the guppys, could I have:

4 Peppered Corys
4 Albino Corys
15 Ember Tetras

Aqadvisor puts this at 98% stocked. My filter is 700lph so that isn't a problem, however is just looks like a lot of fish. Would this be better:

6 Corys
10 Ember Tetras

Even if the first one was fine, I start with that.

BTW on a side note, if anyone wants the 3 Tetras they're free from Newmarket, Suffolk.

hi, not sure about the full stocking, but wouldn't it be better to get a bigger group of 1 species of corrie, rather than a few of each? and i'm not sure if there is enough room for the bigger corries. maybe some dwarf corries would be better.

Atm I have 2 Albino and 3 Peppered and they swim together, so I think they'd be fine, however I agree the full stocking looks big on paper. Ember tetras grow to about 2cm I believe.

hi, i'm not really an expert on corries, and i've read that different species of a similar size will shoal together, but they are happier with their own species.

corys are happier with their own kind in my experience. also i think a 60L tank which is possibly 2 feet is quite small for a large group of adult corys, maybe go for one of the dwarf species. corys love room to swim and play etc and may feel a bit cramped in a tank of this size. i keep a group of 17 corys in a 3 foot tank and i think thats plenty, they arent massive poo machines so dont take a major impact on the bioload but they do need room and ideally need to be in groups of 5+ at least. dont forget you will probably have decor/plants etc too restricting the space even more

I don't think I'll do it all in one go, as I'm rather attached to my albino and peppered corys, but over time, would this be ok:

8 Dwarf (probably pygmy or trilli) corys
12 Ember tetras

More? Less?

Edit: Or 8 Khuli Loaches instead of corys

Your 6 cories and 10 tetras would be a much better stocking than a mix of two kinds of cories with even more tetras. Your gut reaction that it is a lot of fish is probably correct. That strikes me as a heavy stocking for such a small tank too.
