I have hornwort in several different environments. It does best in my overstocked low light tank. Second best is in the betta bowls. It doesn't do too well in my slightly understocked, moderately planted almost medium light tank. Older sections of it turn brown and I remove them before they start to fall apart. I speculate it is because hornwort is a really hungry plant and the other plants take up most of the waste in that tank. I don't dose anything. I suspect your tiny guppies aren't putting off enough waste to feed your hornwort.

Probably. You're playing a whole new game there, though. If you overdose liquid ferts you'll end up with green water or something like that... or maybe the magical hornwort will grow fast enough to compete with the algae. I don't really know.

Ok well they are still shedding, it's a pain, I gave some to my friend who lives locally to see if they do any better in his tank and put some in my 29, that seems to be doing a little better. As for ferts, I'm going to the petstore tommorrow with my friend to get some ferts.

Ive not used it myself, but iron in the most importance fert to add in non-EI tanks. You'll probably find it adds some other things too.

If you want to know a good fert, ckech out the EI article it lists them there. There was also a thread on good ferts the other day, a cheak back of recent threads would probably find it in a few mins

Could the reason my hornwort is shedding is that I gave it a bleach bath?

What does EI mean?
