I have a 200l tank, with over 70% area of the tank covered in live plants,

Also in the tank there is 4platys, 6Zebras, 1 Betta , 20neons, 6 various corys, and i hope to get shrimp soon,

Yesterday i added one male honey(orange and tint of red) and one female(a greyish colour and bigger than the orange), I got told the grey is a female and the orange is the male.

the female seems to be wrapping her tentacles around the male, the male sometimes runs away and sometimes just stays, is this mating? should i put have a cup in for a bubble nest? and will the fish be OK with the other inhabitants?

Thank You.

Water is Perfect in every way.

You might have problems between the beta and the male honey gourami, assuming the betta is male.

I would guess they are not mating, but just checking each other out. The male will build a bubble nest when he is ready to spawn.

The colouring of the female Honey is rather dull compared to her male counterpart, as it is in most species.. (humans included)??? :)

As Natalie said... If and when they have any "mating" or spawning intentions, there will be a telltale bubble nest (no need to put a cup in). The behaviour you observe is probably just checking each other out, getting acquainted.

Regarding the Betta, male or female... in a 200l, 70% covered in plants.... I do not anticipate that there will be any problems... Just observe in any case.

The females aren't really any duller in my experience.

Sounds more like you have a male honey and a female dwarf.
Does she look like this?

as opposed to this

Was also thinking this might be a female dwarf also. By the colour being silver-grey then it sounds like a dwarf to me.

Is this also a colour variety of female Honeys too?

Oh Yes... Honeys also have a wide range to choose from... in most, the female are not as brilliant as the male... (especially during breeding), but because the Collisa Tuna/chuna??? (I am corrected)??... is the common one around...(in my area)... I assumed this is the one you're referring to??... maybe a pic??

Yes, The dwarf Gouramie (Collisia Lalia - I think) the female is extremely dull - (in comparrison).... Even Dwarf's are referred to as Honeys in some of the reports I've seen.
