http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r300/kr...eak/filter2.jpg It only took me 3 minutes to make and here is how: Take a container, put 2 holes in the lid, then put a regular sized air tube through one hole and to the bottom, then fill it halfway up with gravel from a established tank to hold the tube inplace and give of biological filtration, the put a piece of filter floss( pad) over the gravel and fill with water, then put the lid on, after that put it in the tank at the bottom and turn on. It is so awsome!!!!!!!!!! why dont you guys try to make it? What do you think?

Yeah but mine is different, and better( I hope so). Mine is somewhat based of his, but mine is alot easier to make and is almost matnience free. It dosent even clogg up!!!!!

How exactly does it work? This looks like something I maybe could use for a breeding tank. Hmmm.....

The gravel is a bio filter which takes care of nitrates, nitrites, amonia, the when the air bubbles go up they craete suckion which makes water go in. The floss( pad) keep stuff that floats in the water in the filter. That is it. If you make one please post pics. Do you understand?

I think I got it. Tomorrow is "Work on all fish tanks" day at my house, so just might have to test it out. Hmmm...got to look for a tub of something to empty :) (oh goodness, not another reason to pig out! LOL)

Kribensis - Does the water get pulled in through the hole in the top, and the bubbles escape through the same hole?

i dont see how this works sorry.

or atleast not better than the one in the DIY section.

the bubbles have to have somewhere to pull the water from thats seperate from where they rise out from orelse you wont get any suction for the filter.

Sorry to be sceptical, but I don't get it either, if its based on a box filter would you not need a larger tube surrounding the pipe making sure the bubbles pull the water though. Could it not be that if its not ever clogging its not actually pulling water though the filter? It would not take much to change it, a second tub inside with holes in the base and a tube up the middle. I might have missed something and it might work great, if so well done.

At church, I took a note pad and made some improvements. Puy 2 holes on the container one on eache side, the put 3 on the bottom one on the middle and one the side and one on the opposite side. It workd even better than before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will keep working on adjusments for it to improve its quality. Oh, and dont put carbon in it unless you have pads made for the shape of the container. Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!

could i use a film canister or is it too small? and if you put holes pon the bottom won't the gravel fall out?
