One of my apple snails has left his shell i know this is normal for hermit crabs but should apple snails be doing this ??

I am pretty sure that snails cannot live with out there shells there is a huge tendon or muscle or something attaching them to their shell and if it snaps then they will die.

I do know that when calcium is not available then parts of the shell fall off.

But as to losing the entire one?
He's moving out. There's no way to stop him. Hes decided that your tank is no longer adequate for him.

The shell is intact but it just left it i think it wants the huge tock ornament as its new home as its made a beeline for that so im guessing its gonna die

hi if its a apple snail and shell is empty then im sorry to say but ur snail has died and been eaten.fish sumtimes pick on snails and this kills them off.

I think they've seen the snail moving about the tank without it's shell and found the shell intact... Which means the snail literally left it's shell.

Well it only a small tank but i have 1 zebra snail (think thats its name ) and a tiny one that i dont know i dont want assasian snails but want something that wont grow to big and looks good

Apple snails grow to about the size of a golf ball, some even tennis ball size

Really? I was reading on them and couldn't figure out if they were the same or not, asked in chat and was told they are completely different. I don't know what to think anymore
