Ok so ive recently took on someone else's pleco as it has outgrown their set-up, i want to give the fish a good suitable place to hide,

I was thinking of using some 110mm/4inch plastic waste pipe, the above ground stuff so it wont be effected by the UV, even though i am planing to bury it under the substrate in my tank.

Does anyone know if this plastic is suitable for aquariums, obviously with it being a type of drain pipe it doesn't have to be safe for drinking water, so maybe a bad idea to use?

Anyone here used it before?

Just a suggestion;

I had in my tank years ago, an old clay/brick pipe

Buried it half way in the tank and they loved it - and it looked great

Sort of like these

I use brown downpipe, covered in silicone then rolled in the cat litter i use :>

Also after some of the ceramic waste pipe shown above, couple of 90 degree bends to do similar. Bit pricey mind.

What size is your pleco Ben?
I find that my plecos like a tube that they have a bit of difficulty fitting into (if you worry about them being able to get out they will love the tube). For my 4 inch long BNPs that means a tube that only has an ID of about 1 to 1.25 inches. The clay pipe in the first picture would work fine if it was the right diameter but PVC or ABS in an appropriate diameter will work fine too. I find the clay more attractive in my tank but that is really just a matter of taste, which means nothing to the fish.
