make shore the fish have plenty of plant cover for the fry to hide and feed plenty of food most fish can get through the plants quite easy and eat or attack the fry. A good way to save the fry is Unravelled plastic pot scourers used for washing up pots and pans they make a good spawning media For livebearers.I have used it many times it is one of the best ways of saving the young. the adults can’t get to the babies so easy because the plastic scourers are very hard and making it very difficult for the adult fish to get in. but don't forget the fry will come out sooner or later so best to remove the adults.

The darice artist canvas is ideal for making traps. all you need to do is simply cut to size and roll it into a tube shape and use a elastic band to Hold it in position, then put it into mixing ball with tank water put fish in centre when babies are born they will swim through the mesh towards the outside of tube.

Well it works perfectly and only cost 60p for mixing ball & £1.40p for canvas lol

Yep cheaper and better i used the plastic scourers for over 20 years and it's fantastic

3. plastic canvas (darice artist canvas size 5 mesh ( didnt understood )You can buy this from a good sewing shop, make sure you dont get canvas ones, as the starch and matereial will dissolve into your tank killing you fishies.
The pictures in this link are not great,
http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/298110-homemade-makeshift-temporary-divider/page__p__2530278__fromsearch__1&#entry2530278
but with one plastic sheet, i was able to make a divider for my 60 litre tank and enough left to make two hatcheries.
i used plastic a4 paper binders for the sides.
Hope that makes sense.

Hey Gary,

I have been writing an article for the magazine on 'Harvesting Fish Fry'. Do you fancy co-writing it with me?

I plan to get it into the March or June 2010 magazines, I started to write it about 2 1/2 years ago, but lost the drive.
