Okay, was looking at my angel tank today. And noticed something on my male angel. Its on his forehead. It looks like chaffing. It seems to have spread since this morning. What is it?

Here is a pic:

So, WHAT IS IT? PLEASE HURRY! I DONT WANNA LOSE HIM!

hi krib,

hard to tell from those pics, is it red or inflamed around the edge?

Has the angel had any fights or scuffles lately?

are your water parametres ok?

Water Parameters are perfect. He hasnt been in any fights. He is the only male in the tank. The rest are females. No red or imflamatoin around the sore.

If it seems to have appeared suddenly it is probably a scrape. Sort of tough to tell from the pics, even with doctoring them a bit, but I would start there.

yeh i'v got to agree, probably scratched it on something and its got infected, melafix or protozyn should do the trick.

My discus got a small cut like that at the base of its tail, by morning it had spread all over the tail base and it was dead.Treat ASAP.

is it a white shiney patch on him? cant really tell from the pics.
if so its most probably a burn, either from rubbing against an unguarded heater or jumping up and head butting the lights, my cichlids get it quite often from the lights

keep water in pristine condition, should heal with no problems :)

Its the shiny thing. In real life, it looks like alot of danruff congregated in one spot. There is a white line on the side of him going down a inch along him. I dont have the meds i thought. i may wait it out. If it gets worse, i will buy meds. But if not, i cant afford it.

Good to hear. I lost an angel a couple months ago to HITH. I treated it and it seemed to clear up for a week or 2. Then it suddenly came back with a vengence and within about 24 hours, it had become huge and he was dead before treatment could help.
