Holy Moley! Take A Look...

As some of you may know i picked up a cheap tank to house my fry, and after some debate, i decided to use the tank for my original purpose instead of going and getting some more fish. I split mum and dad Rainbow from their babies and spent about an hour catching the young. There is quite a few to say the least!

Rescaped the rainbows tank, washed the gravel, cleaned the glass and decor. It was filthy due to me not touching it whilst they were spawning and raising their young through fear of them eating them. I must admit, Rainbow Cichlids are excellent parents, really impressed with them and their behaviour towards them. They have lost their dark colouration, the male has gone bright orange and the female is almost grey. Hopefully they will settle back in again within a couple of days.

No idea how many babies there is, but i would say somewhere in the region of 150-200.

Here's a quick picture of them in the jug... excuse the leaves etc. lol.

And here is their new home for the next few months...

No idea mate, I'd be happy with £1 each. Just done the hrp's, I don't think there was a hundred. Put mum and dad back in and they have managed to round up 6 of them that were left and they're carrying on as if nothing has happened. Bless em. Haha.

Nice tank,i would have personally left the gravel out for fry,but thats just me,you may want to put a sponge or net over the filter intake,otherwise your wee fry might get sucked in...

Was thinking of netting the filter to be honest. I had another fry tank without gravel but the bottom was covered in the space of a week... not appealing. Lol.

Just a little update... The Rainbows have laid another 200+ eggs. Even more than last time...

I have just been looking at the tank... There is LOADS of babies. Only just dawned on me just how many there are. I can see me having to try and get a 2.5 ft - 3ft bare tank. Especially with this new batch on the way.
