Would a HOB benefit my tank that has carbon in the pads or just have some other form of mechanical and chemical filtration??? I would get biggest size for water movement such as 350-400 gph on a 29 gallon tank
If so which one would work best (i.e. marinelank,quietflow,aquaclear...)

You need something other than a HOTB for the bulk of the water movement, especially if you fill the HOTB with media. Although they can be very useful for holding the media, that stuff will clog over time much worse than for other styles of pumps. This is not to say that an HOTB is useless, just that they are generally insufficient as a flow source. They also provide only downward flow, and you need sources of side-to-side flow for complete circulation in a tank of that size. I can't comment on the HOTB brands you listed as I've never owned those types.

Thanks so what kind of filtration has you used and how much does it cost. Btw I have a powerhead about 225gph in a29 getting more if this will work: I had a marineland 100gph at the end of the tank and the powerhead pointing at the intake from the other side of the tank and it had fantastic cicular water movement. Is that kind of music good for fish and amemones, corals???
