My girlfriend and I went for a weekend break to the north of Scotland, just thought i'd post some pics.
This is about a 1 hour drive from the hussle and bussle of Glasgow along the West Coast of Scotland, just past Tyndrum.
Next stop was a placed called Fort Augustus, not much there except for a set of canal locks, oh and a big scary monster (the loch ness monster) can you spot her? It can be hard to tell the difference sometimes
.. the expression on her face shows you how cold it was.
Next stop was an old castle with loads and loads of history behind it, I wont bore you with the details but it's an interesting place.
Here's a catapult from the same castle. Its huuuuuuge !
Another view..
Next stop was Inverness. Here's me with Inverness castle in the background.
Then it's off to Culloden, the site of the last battle on British ground. Where the English put an end to Scottish rebellion once and for all
. The defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the place where highlanders were slaughtered.
One of the grave stones where some of the highlanders were buried. Its hard to make out the clan names but its a MacG... something.
And finally a wee house on Culloden moor, where some of the injured highlanders went to seek refuge but were later killed.
So there you go, I hope you enjoyed your virtual tour of the highlands
